Adventure: Kayaking across an active volcano

There are people in this world that are born with balls of steel.  My theory is that they are X-Men style mutants that are born with this particular genetic deviation.   Pedro Oliva and his gang are clearly among this mystical folk.  What kind of person  wakes up one day and thinks to themselves - "I know what I want to do.  I want to take my kayak and paddle around an active volcano that is spouting molten lava.  That would be fun!"
