Photography: Salar de Uyuni by Asako Shimizu

The fact that I have never been to the Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia is ridiculous.  I grew up in Paraguay for Christ's sake but somehow it has just never happened.  I am going to Paraguay for Christmas this year and staying in the region for quite a while.  The trip is booked and somehow again I have not been able to squeeze this into the schedule.  After seeing Asako Shimizu's pictures though I have sworn to myself that this is it.  The next time I go to South America, no matter the hassle or cost I will make it there.  Asako Shimizu's pictures are taken with a Hasselblad.  I might even try to dig my father's old Hasselblad out of the attic to see if I can also acquire the dreamy quality of her pictures. Looking at the pictures, it feels like a dream.  The best kind where you are walking in clouds.
