Banksy's New York residency - Better Out Than In - comes to an end today. I am sure most of you have been following the daily revelations on his website
so I am not going to bore you with more of the same, but I came across these pictures of fans interacting with his art on My Modern Met
, and I just loved them. Street art has come a long way from its beginnings and to my mind Banksy has had a lot to do with it. Apparently the owners of the one of the buildings which has been graced with his art have hired security guards to protect it. Another building has put plexiglass around their piece. It seems that the days when landlords viewed graffiti as defiling their property are slowly dying. My father (landlord in his 70s) has a small cattle operation in Austria, and some bright light smeared the word "Vegan" in green spray paint on one of the walls facing the street. My father gets angry every time he sees it (but is too stingy to have it painted away) and I laugh every time. Thus the generation gap is born.
